Swordfish washes up on beach in Lithuania

Swordfish washes up on beach in Lithuania | Kęstas Plauška

The carcass of a swordfish has been found in the Lithuanian seaside, the Lietuvos Rytas daily reported on Monday.

Swordfish occasionally stray into the Baltic Sea. According to the Lithuanian Encyclopaedia, swordfish can be up to 4-4.5 metres long and weigh up to 400 kilogrammes.

The scientific community hopes to use it for future studies.
